Home Ownership Program
- Learn and prepare for homeownership through one-on-one financial, credit and homeownership counseling.
- Use your DHC subsidy toward your monthly mortgage payment.
- Get access to down-payment assistance.
For current tenant-based Housing Choice Voucher residents who make $11,310 or more per year with full-time employment, have about $1,000 in their savings account, and can acquire a mortgage through a conventional lender, the DHC has a Housing Choice Voucher Homeownership program that might fit your needs.
The Housing Choice Voucher Homeownership program provides direct subsidy assistance toward the purchase of a home rather than renting. Elderly and disabled residents are also eligible with an income of $6,540 being required (rather than $11,310). The employment requirement is also waived for those that are elderly or disabled. If you are currently on Section 8 please feel free to contact the Housing Specialist assigned to your account for more information about the Section 8 Homeownership program.
